I use evox to format my new hard drive (120G) and locked it. For some reasons I recieved an error message saying I need to call xbox customer service, (error 13)when I boot my xbox in normal mode(boot with modchip turned off) but it worked fine when I boot it with the modchip on. THe hard drive is a Seagate 120G. please help!

Well m8, error code 13 is a dashboard launch error. Do you still have the original dashboard in the root of c? Is it still called Xbox dash? Can you boot the original dash with the chip on from a link in EvoX?

Yes I still have the xboxdash.xbe in C folder. I was able to boot the machine with the chip turned off when I used the orginal hard drive. So I think it gotta be the new hard drive. My friend told me to lock the hard drive, but that didn't help. As for the new hard drive, it only work with the chip turned on when booting. I hope you guys know what I'm talking about.

error 13 means your dash is either missing or named wrong.
are you double sure it's called xboxdash.xbe? and all the files are there? do you have a backup?

Have you edited or modified the original dash in any way at all?

I think I have everything right! I used configmagic to lock the hdd. This is not a big issue to me since I don't play online and dont' need to boot normal but I just want to learn how to fix this problem.

Well m8, we are trying to help you fix it.
Error 13 is a Dashboard loading error, as I said and Devil-Man concurred. Something is wrong with your original dash or it's files. If it was all right, then it would load. I would suggest restoring your C from the backup that you should have made, or doing a rebuild with Slayers.

Pretty sure it's xbox live 2.0. I had to revert to older M$ dash, haven't seen any real information on why it happens but on some box's those updates seem to detect the modifications to the system files.

i get this alot  when you boot with the chip on, does ms dash come up or does evo x pop up? simple way to tell is use boxplorer (with chip on ;) ) then launch "xboxdash.xbe" and see which pops up. if evo pops up, you can mod your bios (on the chip) to boot yboxdash.xbe or whatever you wish and rename your files accordingly. just make sure your orignal xbox dash is named "xboxdash.xbe" and evo dash is named to whatever you set in xbtool.
