jonnymarshall69 Feb 25, 2004, 06:26 AM has anyone got a free ibm computer (one where you have to watch the adverts)? is there any way to get around watching these adverts? what happens if you dont watch them? any help would be great,
thanks, jonny
Mr Snatcher Feb 25, 2004, 09:07 AM Where did you get it at? Curious
Postmaster Feb 25, 2004, 10:22 AM mate theres no way you can get round them..... and if you don't watch them the computer will become disabled...... They send you a cd every so often to update the adverts and if you don't it will be disabled..... These free PC's although attractive offer has taken advertising to a sickening new level.... I give them the thumb down..
Mr Snatcher Feb 25, 2004, 10:28 AM Cant you just reformat them?
Postmaster Feb 25, 2004, 10:53 AM I would emagine such a simple thing they would have got sorted cause then they'll just be handing out free pc's for no reason.. Although a highly technical person might be able to find a way round it who knows I'm not saying any of this for sure...
ElaineM Feb 25, 2004, 06:39 PM I believe that Lazza ordered one of these for his son, but I don't think that he's received it yet. I'm going to move this to the Consumers Opinion forum as there is already a thread there regarding this.
Dave2986 Feb 26, 2004, 01:04 PM lots of people seem to be saying (hopeing) that someone will release somesort of a patch to get round it but i cant see it happening myself
Mr Snatcher Feb 26, 2004, 01:54 PM So where do you get them? I cant find on gooooogly...and can you reformat them

All the info is on there. They haven't started delivering them as yet - planned for April. Each month they require the Pc to 'phone home' to confirm that you've watched the adverts as required.

God help him... I emagine hes been misbehaving, but surely nothing deserves this sort of punishment...
handyguy Feb 26, 2004, 06:04 PM I signed for one years back, freepc.com or something, never came, but some who got it said that they check that you're watching the ads & if you don't you gotta pay full amount for your pc.
Mr Snatcher Feb 27, 2004, 09:32 AM Thanks tef, I wont touch it. Was thinking of something naughty, buts its a celeron and its one of those cases that that monitors sit on. But hey for free, Dave should jump on that. :D
