321 Studios won't stop selling the copy software, Postmaster, but without the copy protection descrambler option. :)

whats the copy protection descrambler option? What does it do?

Besides regional lockout, most commercial DVDs have some kind of copy protection that prevents the contents to be duplicated. CSS is a good example.

BEFORE 321 Studios lost the lawsuit, DVD X Copy had been shipped with a copy-protection descrambler that can be enabled to copy virtually any disc. And that's the thing that p*sses off movies studios. Don't think the "descrambler" is included anymore.

EDIT: So as I said, you can still buy the software but with 1 less option: The Copy Protection Descrambler.

I went on newscientist and they said as from 24th of feb which was yesturday they had 7 days to stop selling the software thats why I just bought it as soon as I could..... I have a big DVD collection and want to ensure I make legal copys of them....

That was way too much money to spend. DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter. ect. will do the same job but they are 100% free.

From the latest reviews, it would seem that Intervideo's app for $49 is the best option. As jesterrace777 mentioned, the freeware is great for the DeCSS ... you can use DVD Decryptor or Smart Ripper first than encode with the commercial apps.

No it was not. Also as Lazza has posted elsewhere 321 software can screw around with your ripping speeds. Is there anyway you can cancel the order and get a refund? That is just too much money for what you are getting.

true, but why would people suddenly want the software when there are so lots of forum messages saying its not worth using? There is always Usenet.
