Does anyone know if the makers of xbmp will adapt the new High Definition Windows media format into xbox media player? This would be awesome.

Lol, even XBMP have the ability to play it, the Xbox Spec is not strong enough to disply High Definition video :), the resolution are too high...

and I don't think even the DreamX can play it either, we need some P4+ pentium processor and above...

anyways, what i don't understand is how does the XBox is capable of playing High Definition video games hehe :D

Minimum Configuration
(for playing 720p video)
Microsoft Windows XP
Windows Media Player 9 Series
2.4 GHz Processor
384 MB of RAM
64 MB Video Card
DVD-ROM drive
1024 x 768 Screen Resolution
16-bit Sound Card
Speakers

Optimum Configuration
(for playing 1080p video with 5.1 surround sound)
Microsoft Windows XP
Windows Media Player 9 Series
3.0 GHz Processor
512 MB of RAM
128 MB Video Card
1920 x 1440 Screen Resolution
DirectX 9
DVD-ROM drive
24-bit 96 KHz Multichannel Sound Card
5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System

For either scenario, an AGP4x based NVIDIA or ATI video adapter card with at least 32 MB of RAM and the most recent OEM driver updates is also recommended.

Thats why I thought you could do it because soul caliber is hi def. I figured with some work you could get it to work with xbox. Another problem is that this codec is so new not many movies are using it.

The bad thing so far about it is, the video files take up to much space!!! only a few seconds and it's already above 30mb... lol, i wonder how much space it takes up if this was a 2 hour movie...

i think this has been mooted over at the xbmc feature suggestion forum and the answer was a swift no, due to the specs limitation.

people have tried and got it to play a couple of frames and then it crashes

Ahh at least it was attempted. And a movie has to be around 7 to 8gb.
