I was given two XBOX today with the same weird problem.
The video is black and white and has a tracking problem, there sound and everything just the video messed up.
I added a 29 wire homebrew and it still does the same thing. Has anyone expirenced this?

Are you in the UK?
Could it be it is outputting ntsc and not pal.

Just a thought, are you sure its not your tv?
Two Xboxes giving same results is a bit of a coincidence!!

b&w seems to me you are running ntsc on a pal tv either without the advanced rgb cable or through a tv that doesn't have a rgb scart- i may be wrong about that- thats what happened with my dreamcast- the scart cable wasn't rgb

could be the eeprom messed up as well, and have heard a few bits of soft can give these symptoms, i.e avalaunch / xbmp/c, try first enigmah video mode selector, and change to pal, see if that fixs it, if not, could need a new eeprom flashing, could be wrong though...................

eeprom error would probably cause the bios not to boot at all- unless using the cromwell bios or possibly x2 4978 (apparently)- accompanied by the dreaded flashing red light.
i think the eeprom is fine- it's more likely to be the tv/av kit you are using or the tv itself

Wow... feels great to know that this board is still pumping out the help....
Its not my TV or my cables, since I used mine- which, my XBOX works fine.
It's not the EEPROM, I had that trouble before..... pain in the ***. It was like staring at the XBOX logo all day.
I think they went in there and messed with a video mode selector or something. I'll try that before anything...
