hi,

i just got a xbox off a mate, hes was throwing it in bin, as theres no hardrive inside it or power supply,

well i bought another power supply and hardrive for it,

well on switching on i get green and orange flashing,

i have no av lead so unable to plug into tv to see whats happerning, i have bought one but waiting for it to come through post.

also how can i tell if the hardrive is locked? can i connect it to my pc and download a program or somethink to tell me ?

thanx

Green and Orange means no AV lead plugged in - the xbox actually knows whether it's there or not.

yep, you can also read in the manual what it means.

ok guys just a update,

havent had my modechip through yet, but i had my av lead come through post,

the xbox splash screen comes up, but then it just stops on the splash screen then i get "xbox requires service" screen followed by red/green flashing light.

there has been a modechip sometime or other in this xbox as i could see as in the picture where u can tell it as soldered

i checked traces but everythink seems ok,

also theres no error codes that come up in top left hand of screen just "xbox requires service" screen ? which i thought was strange?

another thing to note the hardrive is out of another xbox so im not sure if its locked or unlocked and not sure if that would cause the errors? red/green flashing?

hope someone can help? thanx

I'm pretty sure retail std xbox hard drives are locked, not 100% tho.
