I just upgraded my burner from a DVR-105 to a DVR-107 and flashed it with the new 1.10 8X4all firmware. No problems getting sub 9 minute burns for a full DVD on Ritek G04 media with RecordNow 4.5. Movies play without problems on my stand alone and portable DVD players.

But I'm wondering if new burner means I should upgrade my burning software. I look at Stomp's website and it looks like Sonic now handles the RecordNow software. Is it worth upgrading to 6.51 if my 4.5 still works good? Not sure if there is some burn quality improvements or just new features I would be missing out on if I don't upgrade :)

You know what they say ... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." RN v4.5 always caused problems on my system but if it works for you, I'd recommend you stick with it. AFAIK, there were no compatibility problems with v4.5 burned discs so v6.5 likely just adds some new features you'll never use. ;)

Don't touch 6.5 m8, it's now a "kiddies" version with many advanced options removed sadly. :(

Should be no problems with 4.5, all you have to worry about are the px engine updates to use with 4.5, the latest one is 507 which you can d/l from the Sonic website or do a Google search for alternative d/l locations.

I concur. I Have not heard great things about 6.5 and if V4.5 works then stick with it.

I heard they actually have an upgrade for 4.5 to 4.6. Some people got it e-mailed from tech support. Read this on some other forum. Mine works fine, so I didn't pay too much attention. Anyone else hear/read the same?

There is a 4.6 dx version but AFAIK there were no real changes that affect 4.5 Platinum.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll hold with 4.5 :)
