My mates mother has a PC which has just rapidly decreased in speed and power since this new POWERSCAN (dont get caught with porn on your pc) thing has appeared.
Its says its somekind of Porno stopper and loads up with files that are on the temp drive. I deleted the cookies and stuff and restarted the computer and they are there again.
I tried to see if you could un-install it but the only way it would let me do that was by going online and downloading their "powerscan_remover.exe which i didnt linke the look off.
The pc itself only has 56mb ram but a 7gig hard drive and is only used for ebay and it was working perfect last week but now when you try to get
online its just freezing and stopping pages opening with - res://mshp.dll/http_404.htm.
You have to open the page straight away and then stop it before it all loads up to avoid it stopping before loading??
I tried defraging the machine but its says it couldn't because there were errors on the drive so i sorted that but it just wont move from the defrag page as it stays at 0%

Would be most grateful if anyone can help me with powerscan and if anyone can help speed the machine up again

cheers

instead of using their uninstaller, try using some spyware detection software like spybot or adaware. That hopefully should remove it and speed the pc back up again.

Ok mate i downloaded spybot and run it. Still getting problems tho....

On this site the pages open then i get the white check internet settings screen and i have to click back and then stop quickly to veiw the page.
On ebay its all fine until i get to the Sell item and the page where you input the price it just slows to a halt??

cheers

Pest Patrol removes it, or you can manually remove it by following THIS (http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/p/powerscan.asp).

Slow loading times are the only thing I'd expect from this configuration.
