Will doing system restore on XP remove a virus? My sister downloaded some type of worm on her computer. I told her to do system retore hoping that it would go away. Would system restore work? Thanks

Yes, provided you can find a restore point that wasn't infected.

The only thing system restore doesn't change is My Documents from memory.

after doing the system restore turn the system restore off and then back on again to rid it completely from the PC.

Start, then right-click My Computer, and then Properties.

System Restore tab.

Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.

Click Yes when you receive the prompt.

Make sure your system is working fine and or you have a backup before you turn it off.
