Place your browser in the startup folder, and set the modem to connect automatically.

What operating system are you using?

Under Start, All Programs, you should have a folder called startup.

If you place your browser there, it will load with windows.

When you then set your modem to connect automatically, it will dial in and connect as soon as the browser loads.

I have two users on msn but so it cant work all I am looking for is something to dial my modem automatically...I have looked at the settings on it and there is no setting for automatic dialling.

The modem is usually configured to dial automatically from default.

Anyway, in Network Connections in Control Panel, select Advanced from up top.

Go to Dial Up Preferences, then the AutoDial tab and you can enable it there.

You don't need anything additional if you follow the instructions I have given you.

Nope still no joy here with this one placed everything in the folder again like said and the browser loads and just sits there because it needs a user to manually click "sign In" and also the modem loads but doesnt connect again because it needs someone to click on connect...thanks for the help so far but surely theres another way to connect your modem as windows starts.... Im not fussed on the browser connecting as well just as long as the modem connects.

The directory you want to place things in with XP is (in this case internet explorer)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup just substitute all users for your username if you only want it to start when you log in

It really depends on how your computer is configured.

On mine, the above instructions works fine.

You will just have to set the default connection to dial automatically.

Quote "Im not fussed on the browser connecting as well just as long as the modem connects"

That is how the modem is activated into dialing in.

Thanks for the replies but as I have said I know what to do but when i do it nothing happens i am putting the right stuff into the right folder but there is no auto dial feature with my modem or I cant seem to find it. Is it the link to the modem or the modem icon on the desktop or something else I need to put in the startup folder. Each time the pc starts I am just greeted with the connection box and like I say I still have to click on connect.

I don't know of any magical programs, but regardless you still need to enable the modem to connect automatically and then it will work.

Did you configure the Dial Up Preferences like I suggested earlier?

The details I have given you work as that's what I use and is pretty standard stuff anyway.

Peter b,

What dial up software did you find as I am having the same issue.
I can get it to auto dial if I load the browser into the start menu but I do not want IE to load up on start up. I just want the modem to dial in on start up. With this option you do not have the option box to dial automatically.
