smokafatty Mar 03, 2004, 02:13 PM Was looking through the XS tuts but its getting cluttered and I couldn't find anything about adding memory. Thanks nimbles Mar 03, 2004, 02:23 PM hey smokafatty- probably not a good idea to post it here but check your mail Devil-Man Mar 03, 2004, 10:19 PM go to the x-s forums and search for a dude named KingViper. He's the man at ram upgrades and has made a tut and even a couple videos floating around of how to remove the ram. smokafatty Mar 04, 2004, 01:11 AM Thanks for the replies guys. High speed links to movies is halfway down the first page in case anybody else wants to see them: here (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=177751 ) Can you just buy the 64mb chips? It seems like such a waste of time to remove them, not to meantion how easy it would be to damage them in the process. Other than that it looks like a piece of cake ;) Devil-Man Mar 04, 2004, 06:47 AM there's people that sell them now and again. but that's rare.... best way to get a set is to by a broken mobo from ebay or llamma.com old_engineer Mar 06, 2004, 03:48 PM What r u running that needs more RAM m8? Unless u r running homebrew code or debugging u 'aint gonna be able to make use of the extra 64mb. All certified Xbox titles are coded to run on the usual 64mb rather than a modified 128mb. Hope this helps nimbles Mar 06, 2004, 07:50 PM i'm guessing linux, mameox, the ps1 emulators and surreal in particular will benefit greatly from the additonal ram. Just wondering if the homebrew stuff would also "see" the additional ram smokafatty Mar 06, 2004, 10:46 PM the media player/center would use it too old_engineer Mar 07, 2004, 04:09 AM Why would XMP need to use 128mb of RAM m8? ...It's quite happy with 64mb, and would at a pinch run quite happily on 16mb of RAM if need be :) ...In answer to 'nimbles': Homebrew stuff will only see 128mb if its coded to see 128mb, simple. Devil-Man Mar 07, 2004, 12:25 PM well i have 128 megs or ram in my box and i can vouch that all emulators are coded with it in mind and do run better something hella. mame in particular. :D i say if you have the patience then go for it. as stated the perks aren't THAT great.. but the bragging rights are. ;) |
