I recently converted a mpeg to avi and forgot to select a codec coding and it turned out to be 22gb for the avi.

I deleted the avi but when I go into My Computer (Win XP) it still thinks the avi file is still on the system?

I already ran defrag and Norton diskcheck. Also when I right click all files---properties it comes up to 12gb which is correct.

It should read as 39gb total - 12gb used
but it says 39gb total - 4gb free?

HD is Seagate 160gb 8mb cache, formatted as NTFS.

Run a scandisk or Disk error check should correct the problem. look like the File Allocation Table is confused.

yep tried those still no effect. Although I didn't do a surface scan with disk doctor yet. Will try later.
