My DVD burner for some reason only supports DVD+R's so I just wanted to know if this kind of meida is ok to burn PS2 games. I also wanted to know the advantages and disadvantages.

Thank you:D

Its just a certain format. -R's are more compatable, especailly with older dvd players. Some PS2's cant read +R's all you can do is try. Not all game systems prodoce the same results.

Yup, it's merely a difference in formatting and -R is more compatible with all versions of the PS2. If you burner offers the booktype option you can select the DVD-ROM option and it will make a big improvement in your compatibility.

Well, it really depends. Most Version 9s will read DVD+R just fine but a few people have reported issues. Just make sure it's a quality +R disc (ie Ricoh dye) and it should be just fine.

Yeah, Ritek DVD+R are supposed to carry the Ricoh dye. BTW do you know if you have the booktype option on your drive?

I believe that this is a rebadged NEC 1100, and I don't think it supports bitsetting. That said, there are hacks to flash the drive to a 1300 with a firmware that has been modified to support bitsetting. Flashing your drive with a hacked firmware is risky, so if you don't mind the possibility of trashing your drive and having to purchase a new one, there is a way..... Oh yeah, if you do decide it's worth the risk, your drive would support -R too. Have a look around google if you are still interested ;)
