Password protecting my dvd films is there aprogram which would allow me to do this . so that before a film can be watched you get a password prompt cheers

Since Stand Alone players have no way of entering data to them, I assume you only want these DVD's to play on a computer.

I don't know of any method for password protecting a movie but you might be able to drop the VOB's in a password protected ZIP file.

What about the number buttons on the remote? Unfortunatly the only way I can think to do that would be with the parental lock feature of most players.

There is a directshow filter capable of password protecting streams here http://corecodec.org/projects/vfre/

No idea how it would work with DVD though.

Cheers roger thats a good idea i could winace it then back up to dvd. though it would be nice to be able to use on a stand alone

Suppose you could do it with a series of menus before the film - bit like red dwarf series one disc one easter egg if you've got that. Not particularly secure, but it'd work on a standalone.
