When I'm making a Full back up and it copies the DVD to a folder on my hard drive, after it burns the DVD, is there a faster way to make a second back up? Instead of having to go through the whole encoding screen again which takes more time.
usually when burning CDs or whatever you get asked "how many copies". i don't see that with this program, or maybe i'm doing soemthing wrong.

i basicly need to make 2 back up copys of alot of DVDs....... but my problrem is when you go to "Add files" (if I don't burn right away after ripping from the DVD) it always has to re-encode them. Then after it burns one copy, I have to go through the same process again, and wait for it to encode what has already been encoded? I even sleected "No compression" from the files that are on my hard drive.

I just want to know if there is a faster way to "Add files" and burn multiple copies straight, with out having to go through the encode screen first.....

thanks

After its decoded and placed in the files VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS the dvd is ripped, then it's up to your burning software to handle the multiple copies. HTH

oh, ok....
I was using DVD Shrink to burn as well. That makes sense.........
You think they would have an option on there for multiple copies......

thanks

DVD Shrink is simply designed to decode and shrink. The program does a hell of a job considering it's free. As mentioned above once it is done, just use a regular burning program to make a straight backup of the disc. The "dirty work" has already been done for you. ;)

Yes you are right its a great program!

But i still need some help. I'm trying to copy the Sopranos. Its not copying right..... so I did some reading (I'm new to this) and learned that its a little more tricky burning DVDs of this kind.
If i use Smart Ripper then use DVD20ne.... then burn...... will that work?? or do i still need to use DVD shrink as well???

the strange thing is, i read Band Of Brothers also needs to be done in this same way...... i already burned all 6 copys of that with DVD Shrink with no problems at all.....

I don't know about ya'll but most of the dvd that i've burn so far using DVD shrink to reduce the size down to a dvd-r, it seems like DVD movies that are not encrypt has a better result or quality than encrypted movies with DVD shrink...

Ok, maybe i was doing something wrong here......

When i use DVD Shrink and rip the DVD..... where exactly do i put each of these files? i am using Nero Express..... it gives me those 2 folders Video_TS and Audio_TS....... but which folders do i put these files into?

Video_ts.bup
Video_ts.ifo
Video_ts.vob
Vts_01_0.ifo
Vts_01_0.bup
Vts_01_0.vob
Vts_01_1.vob
Vts_01_2.vob
Vts_01_3.vob
Vts_01_4.vob
Vts_01_5.vob
Vts_01_6.vob
Vts_01_7.vob
Vts_01_8.vob

And will this work without having to use any of those other programs i mentioned?? I tryed looking up how to do this on my own and i think perhaps those threads I was reading were outdated......

One last question (I hope)
I noticed the quality isn't as good when I burned the full DVD...... how would I burn it so i just have the episodes, and make it have better quality using DVD Shrink?
Is that "re-authoring?"
How exactly do i do that?

thanks

Nevermind, i figured it out........ re-authoring just the movie didn't make that much of a difference.

Thanks for the help

Are you using the Deep Analysis feature? For high levels of compression it makes a world of difference.

I'm not sure? where do I find this?

Edit:
Duh ok.. I just click on the analysis button. No, I haven't been using that I thought it was the same as when it encodes it.
After it analyzes it... do I need to encode it still or has it already been done?

Deep analysis is a neat little feature, it basically checks the size of the dvd and pre compresses the film for you, after the deep analysis you can re-author the film only and adjust the compression to get better video quality. The dvd isn't encoded until you hit the backup button.

i really do love this deep analysis feature

i've checked different videos on RW's with and without deep analysis and it does make a really noticable difference.

I am very impressed with this feature on a free program none the less

I heard a lot go you guys like dvdshrink and appreciate it a lot! have you ever consider donating the author some $$$$? I think he earned it! Anyways, why the author of dvdshrink didn't sell his product like dvdxcopy?

I believe it is because he has now been hired by another company to do work for them (Nero, I believe).
