The play I use on my computer is WinDVD.

I keep getting this error message when trying to play DVDs....

"Create overlay failed. Please lower your screen resolution or color depth and try again."

I tryed lowering my resolution and that doesn't work, and I'm not sure what it means by color depth.
I tryed uninstalling the program and reinstalling it.

I CAN get it to work, after I reboot. But usually after I try using 1-2 DVDs I then get this message again. Sometimes nothing happens at all or the program will just crash after opening it.
Also, this happens with both of my DVD drives.

Any ideas how I can fix this??

thanks

No, i'm running Win98, how do iI do that??

I haven't used my DVD drives in a long time.... since that time I got a new video card...... I think that has something to do with it.

Win98, you don't.

Try updating/re-installing your video card drivers. Maybe directx to.

I reinstaled the drivers and DirectX.... still having problems.
When it crashes, as it just has.... it tells me

"Microsoft Virtual C++ Runtime library

Runtime Error!

Program:\Program files\WinDVD\WinDVD.exe

abnormal program termination"

But whenever I reboot it will work the first time, maybe the second time too

Color depth as in 8-bit, 16-bit, or 24-bit.

Certainly sounds vid card related anyway.
