My computer is:
Intel 433MHz Celeron
256MB SDRam
Running Windows 98
With a generic CD drive
and a Creative CDRW 6/4/24
which came with Nero v 4.0 and Prassi abCD 1.3

Heres my story:
I bought this long ago (it ran Win ME at the time), and i realized that it was a horrible operating system so i decided to format. So i backed up all my important files onto CDRW's using my burner with abCD and had no problems, formatted the computer and installed Win 98 as my new operating system. I installed all my drivers and got pretty much everything running smoothly, then i decided to copy my files from CDRW back to my HD. Heres where i get problems. My CD drive read the discs but didn't show any files. So i installed abCD and tried my CDRW drive. It would read all of my cd's but one (and it just so happend to be the one with all my important docs). Then i tried screwed around with things to no avail. I could not read that disc, and it shows no signs of scratches. So i tried to make due without it. Time passed, and my generic cd drive caused me greaet problems so i barely use it now. My Creative handled all my CD and CDR burning needs (with Nero). Now I am still having problems reading that CDRW and now trying to read a CDR (that someone else burnt).

Now when I say i'm having troubles reading. I mean that one of two things happens: either it crashes my computer as it tries to load the cd, or i get the drive not accessible error (as if there is nothing in it).

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a programme called isobuster, on a few occasions when a multi session
data cd failed to burn it was able to recover previous session's on the disk by bypassing the windows OS normal way of reading cd's and reading the disc directly.
