I am going to get an Aladdin installed on my Xbox. THe guy offered to help me add a bigger hard drive for free.

My question is what's so great about the hard drive. I don't really care about uploading games onto HD because I have a DVD-RW and plenty of dvd-r.

I do however want to use my Xbox to play divx, and xvid files. Is a bigger HD required for that or can I just burn to disc and play?

Thanks for any info and advice

you don't need to have the bigger hd, so long as your dvd rom drive is ok and will read your back ups

there's nothing you miss out on by having a bigger hd, other than load times are a little faster if games are on the hd, and your not wearing the ****** laser (something that is more likely to happen with burned media vs pressed retail discs)

nimbles is right. I just like the hard drive for being able to load games faster and not have to get up to switch games all the time.
