Hi...
I'm having nightmares with my cdrw software.I was using Roxio, when suddenly it quit working. The burning software would not recognize the burner. However, the cd player performed all other functions, installing software, gaming, etc,., so I know that Windows recognized the cd rom, just the software did not.
I uninstalled Roxio, and began searching for more software, preferably a demo i could try for free. I found Adensoft after a search...and lo and behold....the software worked. ....for 1 burn. After that,...same problem, will not recognize cd rom. The one disc I burned was perfect. But no dice on the next one I tried.
I went to Adensoft's support page and found my problem. I downloaded the Adaptec update version ASPI 4.70, and although it showed to be installed, I rebooted and the ASPI checker showed I was still running the same old version(4.6). I reinstalled several times to no avail. I downloaded ASPI 4.71 a (just to see) and it installed and showed up in the ASPI checker as having updated correctly. Problem is....the software still won't read the burner.
So , after fruitless efforts to get help from Roxio, I gave up and have turned my efforts elsewhere. Please help with my problem as I realize now it is not the software, but perhaps a Windows problem or something of the sort.
BTW, I'm running Win 98, with 256 megs of ram and a .950 hz processor.
