I have been wondering about this. I have a CD rom drive of 52X speed and i usually select 52X speed CD-Rs when i purchase them for burning. I understand the 52X stands only for optimum speed and it is not a constant speed.

So my question is, if i use burn a CD-R with the speed of 52X/80min written on it, will another computer with a CD-ROM of, (eg. Let's say 48X) be able to read my disc of 52X?

Can someone tell me what's the difference between the speed of the CD-R and the CD Rom? Can a CD Rom with lower speed read a CD-R with higher speed? and also vice versa

Thanks a lot for the attention. :)

there is a difference in what you are talking about: if you have a CD drive that is 52x this is the speed at which it could read ANY disk (or burn for that matter), and if you have a CD-R that is 52x this means the speed at which it can be burned (as opposed to other cds with different writing speeds) but if you have a 52x disk and you put it in a 48x cd drive, it will still read it but at 48x.

hope this helps
