i believe i may have been infected w/ the sasser virus because lately my pc has been running sluggish and so has my broadband internet (cable). but now, i can't even boot up to my desktop. first, i have roxio goback 3 and i tried to revert to an earlier time and that was ineffective. and now, i'm getting a blue screen saying something like:

"a problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer. Disable or uninstall any anti-virus program or back-up utilities. check your hard drive configuration.

Technical information

**0x00000024 "

so that's the message i'm getting right now. i can't even get boot to safe mode. also, i am not sure how to remove my anti-virus program or back-up utlities from here. might this mean i am going to have to reinstall my winXp? if so, is it too late to backup my important documents and files? if anyone has a solution please help me.

hi hmm dont think that virus would do this its just a simply a worm for sending out loads of emails
the problem could be that your anti virus has crashed out and its making the machine not boot up
can you get into safe mode at all when the screen pops up pressing f5
should give you the options for safe mode etc.
allso if you had the restore pack turned on you can go back to the good one when you first started.
end of the day you can simply load up your windows xp disk and load
it right over your old os
but dont do a full clean of the system or you will lose your information.
