I've noticed that on laptop-equipped DVD readers/burners ... they don't seem to do a good job at reading burnt DVD-R/+R media.

For example ... I've created many data DVDs and movie DVDs (using -R media) on my desktop. Everything reads correctly on the desktop and other desktops. But when I read the same DVDs on my laptop (HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4040N, as listed in my device manager) using it's DVD burner drive ... I would occasionally get "skips" or "freezes" on the DVD movies.

Is this because the drive lacks sufficient read buffers ???? Is this normal ???

Any input is greatly appreciated.

U are Probably using cheap media. Get some better stuff, it works better.

I'm not sure how you can assume that all laptop drives have trouble reading media just because your drive is having trouble. Not all drives are like that and there's nothing normal about it. Like handyguy said, try different media.
