My MSI dual dvd burner wasn't working quite right, so I tried to update the firmware. I copied files to floppy, booted up, followed the onscreen instructions. Once it started to flash it , the red light came on the burner, it never quit. It just locked up I guess. Once I tried to restart the computer, it won't boot. It cant find any drives, master or slave. I "unhooked " the dvd burner from the IDE cable and power, and now the computer boots up just fine.
Is my burner dead, or is there something I can try?
thanks

if you tried to update firmware and didn't close any background applications and then turned off your pc, then you're pretty much done with the burner. the firmware instructions were not finished writing to your rom. best thing is contact msi and get it fixed by them or just buy a new one.
