Hopefully someone else hasn't asked the same thing but here goes.

I have a EMTEC CD-RW which I’m using to store data.
Usually when I insert the CD a message comes up stating that I can now use the CD. Lately when I insert the CD in the drive, I can't seem to retrieve it again. I can access the data and add files to the CD but the only way of retrieving the CD is to restart the Computer. What could cause this? and is there anything I can do to correct this problem.
:(

Need more info' mate .
What is EMTEC ?
Is it the make of disc or cd writer ?
If you are using rewritable discs are you formatting them before writing to them ?
If you have written to the disc many times you may find it is time for new discs...they dont last forever.
Good luck

EMTEC is the brand of CD-RW I have. Yep, I did format the CD before I used it. I've only had the CD a bit over a year. The first time I used it I burned data on the disk, but a few months ago my brother reinstalled the burner and discovered the direct CD feature, so since then I've been adding data to the CD every now and then. Is there a limit to how many times you can write to the CD? I thought I read somewhere that CD can last up to 30 years. I've sent a email to EMTEC and looking foward to a reply. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of it.
