I was using the cd-rom drive that I originally had with this computer but I decided to replace it with a faster burner. After a took out the old one and put in the new one, my disk drive stopped working. It opens and closes and thats pretty much it. It doesn't even show up when I open My Computer. I've tried putting the old one back in along with three other spare drives I had. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've spent hours trying to do everything and nothins worked :yell: !

I just realized i posted this in the wrong area so I'm reposting

Is it being detected on boot up?
Have you got burning software which recognises the new drive?
Have you got the jumper on the drive correctly set?

what OS your using would help.

Does the bios see it?

are the master/slave jumpers set correctly?

are you sure the drive itself works to begin with?

does it show up in the device manager?

have you set it up properly in the BIOS?

Go into your bios when you boot up and see if it is beening detected. also check your cable to see if it has not been damaged, if you have another try changing it. :)
