Just picked up Doom 3. Has anyone sucessfully backed up this game? If so please share how you did it. I found 1 post stating that it can be done with alcohol 120% using the safedisc 2/3 settings. Before I try I was hoping I could get other opinions. Also I have a dvd/rw drive. It is a liteon 811s. Any experiences with dvd drive backups for cd games would be appreciated. Thanks......

why not just obtain a backup copy thru BT or IRC?
I would imagine that Alcohol120% would do it, it seems pretty good for backups, only had one problem game with it since it was released

Thanks for your reply. What does BT or IRC stand for? I am not very up on recent burning terms. Doom 3 is the first game in over a year that I have wanted to back up. A year ago clonecd was working great for any game I tried. As I understand it, new protections have changed the game. Thanks.

Well I managed to backup all 3 disc's with Alcohol 120%. It was set on safedisc 2/3. I really had no problem. This game is a classic and loads of fun.

CD1 is suppose to have read errors. That's part of the Safedisc copy protection...

Howdy all, I just burnt doom 3 disk 1 using BlindWrite 5.2.5 with default settings at speed 4.... Worked fine.... But after I burnt disk 2 & 3, they were non readable, so im going to try alcohol120 with safedisc 2/3 settings.

Thx BlazinBud

blazinbud, only CD1 is safedisc protected, CD 2 and 3 are normal disc. You should be able to copy them using the normal settings.

...At least that's how my originals are. I suppose it's always possible that the manufacturer changed it for different regions or product runs.

All of my multi-CD games like Mafia etc only have protection on the first disc.

I've even used Nero to copy the rest of the CD's. They are normally just standard data discs.

Blazin, you could also try CloneCD using "Protected Game" settings, or you can download extra custom profiles.
