I have an old playstation console, and several playstation games. i still love t he old gal as much as when i first got her, but time is begining to take it's toll on my CD disks.
i need to make back up copies of them inside the old computer, which to my understanding is quite legal as long as you own the game, which i in face do.
i tried using clone CD, but the images did not work at all when i tested them using the ps1 emulator for xbox or the ps1 emulator for PC.
did i use the wrong settings maybe? or should i just use another program? does anyone here have any advice for what settings will work all the time?
anyone?

You would be better off testing them on a PSX unit with a Mod Chip rather than emulators which can be buggy.
Anyway, what settings did you use?
The best general settings for Playstation 1 games using CloneCD are,
Reading:
Read Subchannel Data from Data Tracks - SELECTED
Read Subchannel Data from Audio Tracks - SELECTED
Fast Error Skip - UNSELECTED
*Selecting this option will reduce the time it takes to read the bad sectors*
Don't Report Read Errors - UNSELECTED
Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner - UNSELECTED
*Optional, but may increase read speed for some 'Custom' protections*
Writing:
Don't Repair Subchannel Data - SELECTED
Simulated Writing - UNSELECTED
Burn Proof - UNSELECTED
Perform Laser Power Calibration - UNSELECTED
Wait until Buffers are Full
*Optional*
Also, your burner must be capable of "Not Repairing Subchannel Data" or it won't work!

hmm....okay
i agree, the emulators do suck alot. especially for PS1, whoever makes these couldn't even get the Xbox to read the disks, not to mention that ******* never distrubutes the plugins, and any forums on this are not very helpful at all. they all say "figure it out yourself N00b!!!" or something mean like that. you would think they would have made some kind of database of what games work and what dont....
anywyas, if you modify a PS2, can you play copied PSX games on it? not to mention rip PS1 games to it's hard drive and play them (like an XboX) or rip Ps2 games for that matter.
i know it comes with the ability to install a hard drive. hell, some final fantasy game comes with a hard drive preinstalled with the game!
