I have a philips DVDRW824 - All of a sudden my DVDRW will not recognise cd-r. i have no problem with burning dvds, its just when i try and burn a cd-r. im running it on nero6 and windows xp ..... Help !!! :madhack:

You need to be more specific do you get an error message when you try to burn a CD-R.

a window pops up and says please insert a empty disc!

o.k so it does not recognise any media inserted.

Have you tried putting an audo CD in and see if it picks it up at all.

It sounds as if there is a problem with laser if it does not recognise CD-R media.

I have similiar problems with an old A03 i have in that it will recognise and burn media, CDR are fine but every DVD burnt on it now has errors at the beginning and i now have another burner and the media is fine on that.
