Hi there,

I bought my self a DiamondMAX 9 SATA 150 hard drive, and I’m confused about the cabling as it’s totally different. What would it be best option to purchase a new motherboard as my current is a bit old now, or get a controller card? If I was gone purchase a new motherboard would I be able to connect my IDE hard drives and the current SATA one without the use of controller card.

Thx for your help :bouncing:

if u dont mind spending money or a new board get a new MB

a controller card will work but you will need to install drivers and stuff if you first use and or formatted and the sata intergrated into the MB is much better cuz it has RAID function most of the time. just make sure the board has that function or if you dont use it then it dont matter. check to make sure your board dont support sata or you'll be wasting money.

i would go with an board upgrade rather than a controller card.

i have not seen on board that doenst not support ide but sata only.

just take a long at the pictures or the spec before you make the purchase.
