It installs ok but when i try to open the drive which is G:\ is says drive is not ready Retry or cancel
I downloaded the live update program which showed the firware version was 0055 and i needed version 0059. it then downloaded this and when completed opened up windows flash program.
The problem is that i cant select the target drive to be G;\ the one i want as it is not there. All that is there is the other drives i have which even when selected does nothing because the update button stays grey so cant click on it.
If anyone can help then i would be very grateful.

some firmware flash program requires ur drive to be in an ide channel to be detected. is the external drive in an enclosure or a store bought one?

not sure what you mean by enclosure. i bought it off the internet. how do you put it in the ide channel cause that is probably what it is.
