View Full Version : Are crystal XBoxes any good, different and mod-able?

I am about to get another xbox and was considering a new crystal version.

I wanted to know if there was anything different about them, such as better/worse drives, fans or whatever. Have they been altered to prevent modding? I am not that bothered which version I get really but would like a crystal one.

Which chip would be good for the new limited editions versions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks, and I agree. :) But that doesn't answer my questions.

Can anybody?

The only difference is the color of the shell. The components are no better or worst then a regular black Xbox. Just like a regular black Xbox the make\model of the DVD drive, harddrive, etc. used inside the box may vary. Therefore, you need to figure out which chip you need after you open the xbox and look inside, not before.

OK thanks, may seem a strange question but I remember what Sony did after the Version 4 PS2 where you couldn't use the plastic tool to boot backups (before the good chips came out). Thought MS may do the same.

Cheers. :wavey:
