v64 trouble?

any1 help me here with this - i got a n64 and v64 cd backup unit - but when i put disk in cd unit it spins for a few seconds the screeen flashes loading for about a minute then it comes up with "no cdrom drive or cdrom error" - any ideas? is it shagged?

I have a DR64 that did the same thing,im not very technical so here goes.I took the memory out removed the bottom of the DR64 and although the power was connected to the CDROM there was another lead that was loose.I pushed that back in and all was well.Before i go do you want to trade any Roms?Mail me if you want a list.

il have a list m8 please - and that was the problem - it was the ide lead coming out of back of the cddrive! thanx for your help
