Hi there, this is my first post, so here goes...

I have a Yamaha 3200, can right click on drive icon and select 'eject' and out comes the tray, so I know there is a good connection to the drive, device manager says everything is working properly, but the drive will not read or write anything. Blank media, burnt media, or commercial media, I get nothing.

If I open 'my computer' and double click on the drive icon, I get a white screen asking If I want to burn these files to disk, but there are no files.

I have tried to burn with: Alcohol120%, Nero 6, Itunes 4.7

System:
AMD 1900XP+
160GB RAID
512 MB Ram
16x DVD player (works fine)
24x CD-RW (doesn't work)
WinXP Pro SP1

Both DVD and CD-R are on the same chain with the CD-R as Master and the DVD set as Slave on the Primary channel with two 40GB maxtors on the secondary channel and then a bootable RAID for my primary boot drive.

This seemed to have happened all of a sudden.

Any ideas?

If it helps any, when I go to burn a disk in Itunes v.4.7 I get a pop up saying to insert a blank disk, then I get a second pop up and it says, the disk burner is in use outside of Itunes now.

Any ideas? Were the Yamaha drives a pile? and this is just a burnt out drive? it is only 2 years old.

I have the same proplem and the same drive

I cleaned the laser lens with my finger it worked for a bit now it doing it again


Do they still make Yamaha drives?
