I have formatted my hard drive and reinstalled 98SE. I have an epox 8k3a mobo with onboard sound. I have installed the drivers from the mobo disc and the device manager says it's working. Audio CD's play but I don't have any sound in games. I have also downloaded the latest drivers and installed them and it's still the same. Has anyone got any ideas what's going on?

Try the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
Start, Run, and type in dxdiag .

I've run the diagnostic tool and it says the request failed because Direct Sound resources, such as the priority level, were already in use by another caller.

Look in Device Manager and see if you have a sound device listed and that there are no errors?
Make sure you are using the latest version of DirectX.
