Is there a difference between standard ethernet cables & cossover cables. If so, what's the difference & what are they each specifically used for?

Straight cables are used of you are going from a computer to a switch or hub or whatever. Crossover cables are for connecting one pc directly to another. They get their name because two of the wires are crossed over along the cable so that they get to the right terminals at the other end. Straight through cables wont do the same job. hth |
