I am not very techy and don't know what type of HD I can upgrade to. My PC is 2 1/2 years old and my current HD is ATA. Does that mean I can get a new SATA one OK or do I go for normal IDE.

Also from either category which models should I look at. I am not bothered about speed or even capacity that much as 100 Gb is a big improvement on my current one. I am not nec after latest model drives so maybe a former group leader??

I don't know, please suggest some reliable workhorse HDs.

Oh and while I'm at it is there any big difference between the LiteOn 52x32x52 DVD/CDRW Combo and the Sony one? I believe they have the same insides but is there anything that would recommend one over the other?

Cheers. :wavey:

If your system is two years old then you won't have a facility for SATA drives. You will need to get the normal IDE. Which brand? I have always used Seagate. Never had a problem in over ten years.
Go for LiteOn. They have a very good reputation as reliable. That's all I ever use.

I would recommend a seagate drive they are fast reliable and now have a 5 year warranty.

and you are correct the sony drive is made by lite on. the only diff would be the software package and I would prefer the lite on since it comes with Nero Burning Rom.
