I have an Asus A7n8x-E Deluxe motherboard with a AMD 3200+ . I have a western digital 120 gig 8 mb hardrive set on the primary ide. When I add a slave drive to the primary ide the system will hang at the start-up screen. I've tried different combinations but the Primary IDE just won't seem to accept 2 drives of anykind. I'm hoping maybe someone would have had a similar problem.
Thanks for looking , appreciate it if anyone can offer any help.

Are you sure the Master Slave jumpers are set correctly on the back of the drives

Also make sure you have them set correctly on the cable as master and slave, also try setting both drives on auto detect or cs , you could also try installing a spare cd rom drive in place of the second harddrive/cd rom your trying to install just to check that your second harddrive or cd rom is not faulty and hence causing the hang.
