Hi guys,

I have aproblem with one of me PC's. Its only just started happening and wanted to know if you can advise me what the problem might be.....

THE PROBLEM
-------------

If I power up my PC after it has been off for about 2 hours plus, it starts resetting itself during bootup!! Once it resets - it boots up a bit further and then resets again! It continues to do this about 4 times until windows has loaded. Its as if the machine needs to warm up!! Once the machine has been on for about 5 mins - its fine for hours!! I think it maybe the PSU but not 100% sure.

Has anyone else had this problem.

For info I have reseated the cables, formatted the HD, change the RAM around in different slots and pulled out most of my hair!!!

SPEC:

2400 XP Athlon
1GIG DDR 333 RAM
160 Gig HD
WIN XP PRO (SP2)
GFORCE FX ULTRA 5900

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks... Pudders :)

it could also be caused by damp.i know some tv`s wont power fully
if there in a damp enviroment.until they have warmed up.some chips
wont function properly until they reach an operating temp.my pc at
home had a similar prob.windows would load.then lockup.this would
happen until machine was on at least 5 mins.it be hard to pin point.
unless you start swapping stuff around.

cheers.......

I have had this going on lately. Seven possible causes and solutions:

1.) You have a virus/worm/trojan or anything like that. Get a virus-update and scan your system.

Does this work? Problem sloved! Doesn't work? See next step...

2.) You installed software that causes a conflict. Try finding out what software you installed lately. Uninstall or investigate possible conflicts and solve them.

3.) Your OS is corrupt. Try to fix it using system recovery, Norton Windoctor or something like that.

4.) Your HDD is a real mess. Defragment!

5.) Your HDD has bad clusters. Run a disk diagnose tool like Norton Disk Doctor and try fixing it.

6.) Your system is really screwed up. Perform a full format and reinstall.

7.) Your HDD is about to die.... get a replacement before it eminently crashes
