my question is....can i use my own hard drive on a ps2? and if i can do i need to do any modifications to it in order to use it? and will i still need a mod chip? thanks alot in advance :tup:

yes you can use your own hd in the ps2. you only have to make a modification to the network adaptor depending on which hd you have. maxtor hds are usually your best bet as they fit perfectly and are most compatible. i have heard seagate is good too but some models wont fit. i have a western digital and these are the ones you need to make a modification for. for a complete list of ps2 compatible hard drives check out this site: http://ps2drives.x-pec.com

as for getting a modchip, you don't need one. if you can use the mc exploit to get hdloader to load from your memory card then all you need is an original ps1 game and you can boot games from your hard drive with no problem. i can't explain the process of installing hd loader to your mc using the swap methods because I have a modchip so i just popped the cd-r in and installed it fairly easily. you will need to read around to find out that information.
