I backed up my hard drive with the SONY (model CRX2100U0) and, now that my hard drive has crashed, I can't open this one large file. The Recorder's Gold application indicates that the disc is 100-percent full of data, but shows no files; same when I try to access it through My Computer and then either D or E drives. I'm using WIndoows 98SE on an IBM Thinkpad, and haven't had any trouble with other (smaller) storage and retrieval tasks. Any clue? Thanks!

The chances are that the data may need recoverying from the CD. First of all, try and view the infromation on another system. If this still doesnt seem to appear within the media, then the chance are you aregonna need to recover the data.
go to the site below if the above fails. The information is on a particular CD-R data recovery software. Check the details on the product, then get back to me at :
garyablett@filefix.co.uk
the product is called CD Data Rescue:

As FileFix.co.uk Ltd is a partnet of PC Recovery, I can get the softwareto you at a better offered price than the RRP, but get back to me first, and make sure that you have tried whatihave stated in thefirst place.
Our website is www.filefix.co.uk
Weare a superstore for data recovery software, all of which is a totally downloadable service, and all prices are lower than the RRP.

Also check that the files you burned to the disc don't have the Hidden attribute checked - go into Folder Options in a browser window and click on Show All Files (as opposed to Hide Hidden+System files etc.), it might sound silly but it's got me a few times!
