Is the CD-R internal or externa. If internal, are you sure u connected the IDE appropriately, including the power to the motherboard.

It should automatically be detected when pluged into the system and if it still isnt detecting then it may be that the particular drive is not working itself (faulty). It might also be an idea to observe (if uhave a cd-rom or other drive installed into the system) where the other components are installed with the system, replace that particular connection (e.g. if the cd/rom is connected to the primary IDE then change the connection to the cd-r) and observe whether it could be a problem with a connection point.

If these suggestions dont work or there is something wrong with the information i have given just post back n we will think of something else.

it is an internal writer and its the only drive i have and its the master also, so i can't figure out what the problem is, there can't be much more to it than that, i use to use it with my 105, before then i had to uninstall stomp, then after that it wouldn't recognise, the driver, now this is a brand new pc, with xp and still the same problem, ?? any ideas gazza10
