hi there,

i've got a quite disturbing and irritating problem -> my windows explorer / my computer doesn't show my cdrom drives... i've checked in the device manager and there's no problem there...

i first noticed this problem when i removed a deamon tools package, so i went to their forums and the problem was known...

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/viewtopic.php?t=498

i tried everything they mentioned (also the link to the microsoft pages), but the drives just won't show up...

anyone got an idea?

thanks a bunch!

Check the Device Manager, in System ,in Control Panel. Check that there is no problems with the drive under the 'CDROMS' extension area. If there is a problem, come back and well try and discuss it. Otherwise did u get any driver information with the drive itself...u mayneed to install that with it too.

Try installing TweakUI (it works fine in all Windows), and in the My Computer Tab, turn off displaying of each of your CDRom drives, then turn them back on again.

hey hey,

first of all: thanks for the replies! i tried both suggestions, but the problem's isn't going anywhere...

in the device manager, it is said that both drives work correctly... and i didn't get any driver information with the latest drive (i bought it two weeks ago)...

TweekUI doesn't recognize the drives -> d: en e: are marked with a red cross, so turning on and off isn't helping...

i think i'm gonna disconnect both drives and try to uninstall them (cuz that seems to be a problem as well)... and if that doesn't work out, i'm going to re-install the Deamon Software and see if that makes a difference...

i'll keep you posted!

thank again!

You said that you got the new drive 2 weeks ago, was that when the problem started?

If so it might be that you've got 2 drives on the same ide channel both set as primary or slave.

Just a thought.
