my cd rom and dvd player just stopped working one day
they open and lights flash and everything, except nothing gets read
even when i go to my computer, the d drive doesnt pop up
can anyone help?

Pop open your case and make sure your IDE ribbon is securely in place for your drives and into the mobo.
Sounds like a classic case of a ribbon that worked its way loose on your secondary IDE channel.
