lately i noticed in my temperature app that my cpu and mobo temps are a little higher than they used to be. now my cpu easily gets to 50 degrees and my mobo is at 45 usually. Before my cpu would be at about 40 and mobo and 35. Thing is they are reaching higher temperatures even when im hardly doing anything like just browsing not playing games. and at idle they are higher too. my fan spins at about 3700 whataver that means. CPU is a 2.4ghz intel pentium and have had it for about two and a half years.its been pretty much on 24/7 since i got the comp too.
How can I make the temp go less cos i dont like this as the temp has climbed a couple of degrees even more since yesterday.

Time to clean out the computer case. Sounds like you may just need to vacuum out some dust. Make sure the heat sink is clean as well as any openings in the case. You may have to remove the fan from the heat sink to properly clean it.
I have a big antec case with 3 fans in the front and two exhaust fans in the back. I vacuum my case at least once a month. I also have filters on the front that catch most of the dust.

BTW - welcome back gamehunter!
I would say your temp going up a few degrees in the past day along is scary.
Check your active cooling (fans). Is the one on your video card still moving? What about your CPU fan? Also check exaust / inlet fans.
And for gods sake check them under a good light and don't stick your finger in to check. Unless you want to be called Stubby. Those things can be sharp!

How shall i go about cleaning it exactly? Shall i use a vacuum extension to take out the dust or is that kinda risky because it might suck in other things? Or shall i use antistatic wipes inside the comp to get rid of the dust or compressed air? Thing is I haven't really cleaned the comp sinc eI bought it and whenever I need to open the comp to put something in I notice tons of dust so I dont thionk compressed air would help that much!

ok just cleaned it but it made no difference...i used a whole can of compressed air on the computer but temp is still rather high...is 45 degrees mobo and 50 degrees for cpu 2.4ghz ok to work with though?

Thanks for the welcome back acid:
Well, if you have cleaned out your case and there is still no difference, make sure your heatsink is seated properly on the processor. Sounds very strange your temps have climbed so much. What are you using to report your temps? You say your using a temp. app.
Make sure the temps being reported are the same as in the bios.

take the h/s+fan off the mobo and then unscrew the fan from the h/s.now wash the fan and the h/s under your kitchen tap, when there cleaned use a hairdryer to dry the h/s+fan(make sure there completely dry). pull back the sticker on the underside of the fan and use a little bit of oil, if the fan blades still look a little dirty then use a cotton bud to clean them but be careful not to break any blades.once done screw the fan back on the heatsink and clean any excess thermal paste on the cpu and if necessary reapply thermal paste then attach the h/s+fan to the mobo.
hope it helps.

Well jasev, if he's going to go through all that, (not bad advise by the way), make sure to pick up some artic silver 5 to use instead of thermal paste.
