Ugg!!!! I am burning my CDs correctly with all the settings correct but, they dont work. Do I really need a modchip? I heard they ruin PS2s :bawling:

I think you are a little misinformed, it's not modchips that ruin ps2s. If it's put in right, it could not possibly harm the system. Playing backups at all is going to be extra wear on your laser though.

And no, you dont need a modchip, but you should invest in a dvd recorder, your Ps2 will live longer.

As for whats wrong...it could be so many things.
The media, your swap method, a bad backup, a bad burn, the wrong burn settings, TOC too big,etc,etc...

Yes, you need at least swap magic disc to boot games! if not you need to invest in a soder or no-soder modchip! I use swapmagic and slide card! And havent had any problems! make sure if you do get SM get version 3.3dvd and cd, there the best and read anything so far!

I use Swap Magic with no mod, and I have never had a game that wouldn't read.

This is misleading, you dont NEED swap magic. You could swap with a GameShark 2/Ar2, use a memory card exploit, HDD loader, etc.
I do agree that its the best swap disk though.

NOCT is correct there are many ways to boot games, I just think SM is better than most methods! Sorry for any confusion!

hi i have swap magic v3.6 and a slide tool i have been trying all day to play champions of norrath ntsc version(usa) on my pal(UK) ps2 it keeps saying invalid ps2 disc have also copied it to dvd-r and says the same thing have tried sphinx and the cursed mummy and that wont work either and really pissed off any help would be appreciated also my ps2 is version 9
