sup i've tried everything to get my xbox and pc to ftp to each other....i changed the ip address in my pc to 192.168.0.3 and i changed the gateway to 192.168.0.1.......but still nothing. My question now is....am i using the right cable? I mean is a systemlink cable used to hook 2 xboxs the right cable to use when hooking 1 xbox directly to the pc.

yes, that should be right. That should be the equivelant of an ethernet crossover cable. Check you xbox settings and make sure that the gateway is set to 192.168.0.1 as well. The computer and the xbox should have the same gateway number, and then the computer and the xbox should have their own different IP address, for example computer ip could be 192.168.0.2 and the xbox IP could be 192.168.0.3 or the computer could be 192.168.0.3 and the xbox could be 192.168.0.2, but the IP address of either can't be 192.168.0.1, that should be reserved for the gateway. But if you only have the three options in your evox, then you can't get to the settings on the xbox to change them, so you'll have to make the computer match the gateway of the xbox and assign an ip to the computer. The IP actually can be any ip between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.254 as long as it isn't the same as the ip that the xbox has. If after verifying the gateway and IP address is correctand it still doesn't work, I would try a different cable. If you go to a computer store or Radio Shack to get a different cable, make sure to ask for a crossover cable, and not a straight cable. If you have a router, then you can use a straight cable. I think that using a router is the best method, because then you can set the computer and xbox to use DHCP and the router will assign all the IP addresses and gateway and other stuff automatically. You just have to make sure to use a straight cable if you use a router. Also, if you have a firewall, make an exception in the firewall rules for that connection, or turn it off while your doing your ftp session.

just set the pc ip to 192.168.0.1 and the xbox to 192.168.0.2 make sure after you change the xbox ip you select save settings and reboot. also set static ip to yes and you should be good to go, as this works for me everytime
