Yes, there are a few ways, but first stop it from restarting by right-clicking My Computer, properties, Advanced tab, and under Startup and Recovery click "settings".
Under System Failure uncheck "Automatically Restart" then O.K.
If you now incur an error it should give you a blue screen with details as opposed to restarting.
If you continue having problems, post back with the exact details.

The same thing is happening to a friend's computer.
The only notable thing was that he installed an update on his PC, since I assume that the little bubble keeps popping up telling him updates are ready to be installed.
Another assumption I have is that the update was a Service Pack, since now, instead of his PC showing the XP Pro icon, it just says Windows XP. I can't even get into safe mode. It restarts during the loading of safe mode.
What can I do?

I'd try reseating all the PCI cards/AGP card & memory. ALso ensure that all the IDE cables are located properly. If something has worked loose then a restart , for no apparent reason, will often occur.
