i just got a new NEC dvd burner and put it in a bytecc external enclosure. the first time i hooked it up it worked just fine but now my computer only recognizes it as a dvd drive about half the time if that. i've got it hooked up via usb 2.0 port. when i look under the device manager it shows up as a usb mass storage device and it doesn't show up in 'my computer'. i'm running windows xp on my toshiba laptop... got any ideas?

the few times the computer actually has recognized it i've had no problems burning dvds.
