EMDY Apr 10, 2005, 09:19 PM i did some changes in the internet explorer app......but now i got bored and want to re-install it again with defaults settings and all........but, i donīt know how?....anybody can help me? mawells Apr 11, 2005, 09:29 AM I am on an old 98se system. On it you can go to control panel, add/remove programs, find microsoft internet explorer and click to remove. It should give you the option to repair. Choose that and it should do it. Nuttapper Apr 11, 2005, 12:30 PM if your on Xp and dont have the option above there is a reg hack to make windows think its not installed, you can reinstall it then. post back if you need it Insomniac Apr 13, 2005, 07:36 AM If XP doesn't have Internet Explorer listed in Add/Remove, you can do a repair by going to Start, Run, and copy and paste the following then press O.K. rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf You will need your Windows CD. BTW, repairing it won't restore default settings necessarily. You can do most of that by going into I.E, then Tools, Internet Options, then Restoring Defaults for the relevant tabs. merlin_the_magician Apr 13, 2005, 10:10 AM How to reinstall? Childlike simple.... don't. IE is crap... it will set you up with outrageous ammounts of spy- and adware, virusses, trojans and other things you really do not want. While you're at it anyway, go for Firefox! Insomniac Apr 13, 2005, 10:34 AM How does that help him fix Internet Explorer? It doesn't, and anyone could just post "use this instead" for every thread here! Not only that, but what are you going to do for Micro$$oft sites and programs that require Internet Explorer and won't run otherwise? I'll leave that for your childlike simplicity logic. :) Oh, and by the way, I've been using Internet Explorer exclusively since almost day one and have never[/url] gotten a virus, spyware or trojan. It's about time users started taking responsibility for their own security. Anyway, last month, FireFox had double the security breaches that Internet Explorer did, and the more people that use it the more it will get targeted, it's only a matter of time. lizardo_manson Apr 13, 2005, 12:44 PM Insomniac is right. If you are well protected, it doesnt matter if it need some fixes as Firefox did too, so is not perfect anymore. I use both now..but sincerely i still love IE. The Pop-up blocker and ads is workin better. But well, is your decision. |
