Hi, I recently purchased a PS2 with a standard Duo 2 modchip in it, I was happy to read that it played PS1 games.
However when I got home and tried it out, I found out that it does indeed play all my PS1 import originals, and also my backups, however for a large number of the games, when I boot them up down the bottom of the screen I get a relatively large black bar.
In some cases it pushes the image upwards, so that the top part of the image is missing, and in one case with Wipeout3, (because it was cracked I get a msg at the start asking if I want PAL or NTSC, press X or O respectively) if I boot in NTSC, the picture is there in full, except instead of pushing the image upwards, the black bar is overlayed onto the image... O_o, however when I select PAL mode for that game it runs perfectly fine and full screen and full speed.
Otherwise with that one exception every other game that has the problem has the image pushed upwards as if I was having a vhold problem, however the top part is just cut off, and it doesn't appear at the bottom like vhold.
Anyway, I was just wondering if there is any firmware patch or fix for this that I could look into to remedy the problem? Or if maybe someone knows which file off the Wipeout3 CD that has the PAL booter, maybe I can reburn some titles that I want to play but with that at the start so I get the correct screen size?
Or if anyone else has had similar problems how did they fix it?
Anyway, any help anyone can give me would GREATLY appreciated, as I was really looking forward to getting a copy of Vib Ribbon, however the one I was going to buy was NTSC-J, and if my PS2 won't boot it full screen it'll be a bit disappointing, so I don't way to buy it just yet..
